Chiropractic Care

Did you know that your level of health is dependent on the proper communication between your brain and body?

Your nervous system consists of your brain, nerves and spinal cords. Nerves travel out from the spine that go to all areas of the body. Misalignments in your spine, then, can put pressure on these nerves, which in turn interferes with the communication between your brain and body. The outcome? Dis-ease.

As a chiropractor, Dr. Smith’s job is to locate any misalignments in your spine and correct them, allowing your health to flourish. According to extensive research, chiropractic care is effective in treating many types of musculoskeletal conditions.

Comprehensive Treatment Approaches

Dr. Smith combines precise chiropractic adjustments with multiple advanced therapies to create comprehensive treatment plans tailored to your specific condition. This multi-faceted approach addresses not just pain symptoms but the underlying causes of your discomfort, promoting true healing and long-term wellness.

Varied Adjustment Techniques to Suit You

Dr. Smith is well-versed in several different chiropractic techniques, including instrument-based and manual methods:

  • Activator®
  • ArthroStim®
  • Cervical work
  • Diversified
  • Advanced Shockwave Therapy
  • B.E.S.T
  • Thompson

Our practice offers cutting-edge shockwave therapy in two specialized forms: radial pulse wave therapy and focused shockwave therapy. This FDA-approved treatment stimulates your body’s natural healing processes by promoting stem cell production and tissue regeneration. Particularly effective for chronic conditions and areas that haven’t responded to other treatments, shockwave therapy typically delivers noticeable improvement after the first session.

Low-Level Laser Therapy

Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) utilizes state of the art technology in the application of low-power lasers or light-emitting diodes to the surface of the body. The application of low-power lasers relieves pain by stimulating and enhancing cell function.

The EVRL laser technology, used in our clinic, has FDA clearances for chronic low back, chronic neck/shoulder pain, as well as overall musculoskeletal pain. The violet laser also has anti-microbial capabilities that will help fight infections, bacteria, viruses, and fungus. It is particularly effective for traumatic brain injury treatment, as well as severe ligament injuries (grade 3 sprains) and annulus (outer disc) tears.

Therapeutic Kinesio Taping

Dr. Smith provides specialized therapeutic taping using Kinesio tape techniques. Unlike rigid braces that restrict movement, this taping method stabilizes injured areas while allowing normal range of motion. This approach supports proper healing without causing muscle weakness and provides patients with a “false sense” that they can do more than they should. The taping is particularly effective for muscle injuries, joint support, and recovery from auto accident injuries.

Specialized Brain Injury Protocols

Our practice features specialized protocols for traumatic brain injuries, including treatments for vision issues and balance problems resulting from brain trauma. We utilize “Rock string therapy” designed to help condition patients with nystagmus (eye function disorders) and other vision-related symptoms. These therapies complement our brain-focused laser therapy and nutritional approaches for comprehensive brain injury recovery.

Acupressure Techniques

For certain conditions, particularly headaches and chronic pain, Dr. Smith incorporates effective acupressure techniques that provide immediate relief by targeting specific pressure points. This natural, non-invasive approach complements our other therapies and gives patients additional tools for managing their symptoms.

Your Response to Care

There are usually three types of responses to care. First, you may feel relief after an adjustment. Another possibility is that you don’t feel differently. Lastly, you may be sore, which is a positive development. After a great workout, you might also feel sore. We’re retraining your muscles and soft tissues, which can result in such a feeling.

For patients who have not been in an auto accident but are visiting us to resolve other concerns, we re-evaluate your condition every few visits to ensure that you’re responding well to care. Re-examinations will be performed at regular intervals.

Ensuring Your Optimal Well-being

Please be advised that if you feel better after an adjustment, it cannot be assumed that you are better. It does not mean that your problem has been resolved, and your injuries are likely to return. For the best results, we recommend you stay on your plan of care. We’ll use objective testing to be certain when your issue has been cleared up, focusing not just on pain relief but on improved function, range of motion, and overall stability.
